Buy discounted ‘out of date’ food

We've been ordering discounted food from Approved Food for years. In our latest haul, we nabbed £90 worth of branded food and drink for £35.

What is Approved Food?

Approved Food sells food and drink that is close to or past its best before date. The food is perfectly safe to eat, and we didn't even notice the difference in taste or quality.

According to the NHS: "Best before dates are about quality, not safety. When the date is passed, it doesn't mean that the food will be harmful, but it might begin to lose its flavour and texture."

Don't confuse this with "use by" dates which should not be ignored. It is illegal to sell out of date food based on the "use by" date, but not the "best before date".

What food past its best before date can you buy?

You can buy most of the branded products that you would find in the supermarket. This includes clearance groceries, cheap toilet roll, sweets and chocolate, tea and coffee, and cupboard staples. They don't sell food like meat or dairy because fresh produce comes with a "use by" date.

Not all of the items are actually past their best before date, most were well within. So if you want to save up to 70% on food then give Approved Food a go.
