How to get the best fashion deals

Fashion is one of the most popular things to buy for students. Here at Save the Student, we want to make sure you're getting the most for your money!

If you follow these tips you'll be able to save more when you next shop for clothes.

  1. Make the most of Student Discount

Make the most of every fashion student discount out there! It may only be 10% but these pennies you save do add up.

Sometimes your student discount will stack onto a sale price. So, for example, the sale price of an item may be £20 (down from £50) and your student discount will add on top, making the item £18 if there's 10% off.

Even if the store says student discount won't stack on top of other promotions, we always encourage trying it, as a lot of the time it will!

  2. Look out for free delivery and free returns

Free delivery is one of our absolute favourite buying tips! Often, delivery charges on fashion websites range between £2.99 and £5. If you're ordering a few tops here and there, this can really add up!

We always look out for free returns, as that gives you the chance to try on the product without feeling obliged to keep it.

  3. Collect in-store to save

If the website doesn't offer free delivery, it may be a good idea to check if they offer a free collect in-store service. If you're likely to be passing the store or can get there cheaper than the delivery cost, it's definitely worthwhile!

Bear in mind that some shops cheekily charge to collect in-store, so if you're trying to save money on postage, it may be better to have it delivered home.

  4. Cashback sites

If a website isn't offering any form of discount and you still want to save, consider using cashback websites. You can get anywhere from a mere 1% cashback to over 10%. Trust us, when you see it add up in your account, it'll make a big difference!

  5. Get in on the sales!

It may seem obvious, but the best way to save on fashion is in the sales! In the past, we've waited to get full price things for sale prices, but it's worth bearing in mind that you risk the item not being in your size, or even in stock. This is definitely the best way to get 40-70% off an item you've been longing for!

In our humble opinion, the top 10 online retailers for students will have the best sales, so keep an eye out for these.

  6. Look out for codes

The last tactic is to look out for discount codes online! We find that even if you can't get a student discount and there are no sales, there's likely to be a code out there (waiting for you to find it!).

We also post codes regularly on this page so keep an eye out.

Now that you're a pro at saving money on student fashion, go and save some money.
